Why don't you campain for prohibiting battery cages in your country? Google tells me you are in the US - I thought battery cage eggs were a thing of the past in the entire civilized world :(

According to the short intro he posted, the are trying to convince company after company to not sell them, instead of "just" getting them banned nationwide.

No, it is not collage graduation, but university graduation. In the very same article you linked to, it says that students in Germany take about 4 years for a bachelor degree.
What brings the average up to the cited 28 are 2 facts:
1) Master resp. Master + Phd studies take longer (And as a bachelor degree didn't exist a few years ago before the bologna process, it isn't really taken seriously so most poeple who decide to go to university want to finish at least a Master) 2) There are long-term-students who are full-time workers and only take a few university courses a year. That isn't a problem for the universities - they don't use up more resources of the university than short-time who take as many courses as possible and will be finished in "theoretically achievalbe time".
