Wow! That's so surprising. It's so good that they have someone as passionate as you as mayor. What's your other job? How many hours per week would you say you spend dealing with mayoral duties?

Considering how passionate you are about doing your job, you're clearly okay with being paid so little but surely you're not being paid the minimum wage for being mayor? 20 hours per week is quite a bit of extra time to devote to it.
