That is, how do you balance the most preventable human problems, like obstetric fistulas, against the most preventable problems of other species, like suffering in factory farms? Have there been specific calculations of cost-effectiveness for animal-related charities? And is the position of nonhuman animals divisive within the community of effective altruists?
