I'm not familiar with either your or your prospective industries, but I would venture to say that you probably wouldn't need a formal engineering background / degree to do what you want (repair). It's great to know the theory as a foundation, but you have the necessary hands-on experience.

Having the background that you do, you probably have the same soft skills / logical thinking / mindset needed to do well in any repair industry.

Don't let yourself be your own obstacle.

Shoutout to Louis Rossmann and AvE, the best "Technical Repair / Teardown" channels on YouTube.

Louis:

30% actual repair tutorial

50% philosophy and life lessons

50% entertaining cynicism

AvE:

30% actual tool review

30% philosophy

50% eloquent entertaining euphemisms and expletives. entelligent dude.

both add up to more than 100% because they're that good.

I'll check you out now on YT. 👍

(Edit: Really don't think you can get ego death from just marijuana. I've only ever heard of it on hallucinogens.)

I had a really bad session once. I spent an hour or so hunched over a kitchen sink perpetually on the verge of vomiting while feeling like I was literally dying / fighting to cling to life. Scariest shit ever. I knew I was just through-the-roof high, but I couldn't shake this awful feeling like, "Well this is what it's like seconds before you die, and it's fucking terrifying."

Couldn't control my breathing well, heart was pounding. Mild to moderate hallucinations. Sweating my ass off. Couldn't understand more than like 5 words strung together when people were talking to me.

I was smoking though, not on edibles. I blame my friend and myself.
