Hey guys, thanks for doing the AMA!
Have a couple questions:
This is going back a LONG time, but December 9th, 1998 you guys played a show at my college, Denison University in Granville Ohio, which is cool enough in itself, because who the hell has heard of Denison University? But it was the first time you ever played "The Very Moon", which ended up becoming my favorite Bisco tune, and the first recording of you guys I ever heard. Then, when I finally got to see you guys for the first time at Aura this year, you guys played it again, it felt like you guys played it just for me haha, awesome show! Any memories jump out at you from that '98 show? I've played shows on that small-ass stage before and from the tape it sounds like you guys just tore the roof off the place.
I notice that both Aron and Allen are running Ableton rigs. What kind of interplay/sync is there between the two? Do you guys use them for any looping during jams? Hosting VSTs/soft synths? Sample/Loop playback? You guys get such a huge sound between the four of you, I'd love to know how you get all that gear to play nice with each other and implement the Ableton stuff in your jams!
How'd you guys get involved with Simon Posford? And how did the collab on the most recent Younger Brother album come about? Any plans for any YB live shows?
How'd you discover KJ Sawka? I remember YEARS ago, maybe around like 2005 I was starting to learn drums and I found a video on youtube of him playing these absurd jungle beats on his kit and it blew my mind, then at All Good (2012 I think?) I caught Conspirator's afternoon set and was like "Holy shit it's that guy!" when you introduced yourselves, guy is a beast.
Really excited Camp Bisco is back! I work in concert/festival production so I'm trying hard to nail down a gig so I don't miss it. Can't wait for my next Biscuits show!

Got an equipment question for Phipps and another one for Alana. I've been noticing your Eurorack Modular setup and as a modular nerd I'd love to know more about it. What modules are you using? How are you sequencing? Is it synced to any of your other gear?
And for Alana, what equipment is in that rack on the keyboard stand next to you? Effects that you tweak with your hands? Or is it a synth you trigger with your bass (Midi?). Also, please play more fretless because you're amazing!

Hey Simon,
Really glad you did this AMA, your music across all your different projects is a huge inspiration to me as a musician, and I've gotta say that you are the reason I started to make electronic music of my own. We've got a community here, r/edmproduction that's all about producing electronic music and sound design, and in the past we've had producers come and do production-specific AMAs, and I bet I speak for everyone over there that we'd love to pick your brain about some of your techniques and workflow, so I'll save my production related questions for that should you choose to do one (and believe me I've got a bunch), had a few other questions though.
The Shpongle live band is kind of like the Haley's comet of the live music scene, and it seems to only make appearances on special occasions. I know the logistics in assembling the band in one spot from all over the world are difficult, but with the recent love that Shpongletron and The Masquerade have been shown in the American festival scene, have you thought about assembling the band for some of those like Wakarusa or Electric Forest like you did for Bisco a few years ago, or even a tour? A Younger Brother live band appearance with Marc Brownstein at some festivals would be awesome too.
Last one, I'm starting to make my way into the music industry, currently working for a production/promotion company out of Atlanta, but I'm working towards my goal of tour managing or promotions at a record label. I used the contact box on the Twisted site to ask about internships or job opportunities there but never heard back. I love all the artists on Twisted and its ethos as a label, and would be excited to have the opportunity to submit a resume. Failing that I'll just submit some of my music once I master my EP :P
Thanks again for doing this, I really appreciate what you do and I'm looking forward to the next time I can catch a live set of yours, cheers!
