What was the most exciting or interesting thing that you took part in as a surgeon? What was the first surgery you did that you were in charge of rather than helping?

As a psych major this is one of the paths I am looking into once I graduate. I would love to hear your AMA or be able to message you to talk about how you got into your career.

Not OP but I do have psychiatric issues and have been voluntary inpatient a few times and am also a Psych major. Of all the times I have been in there has only been one person that I felt truly didnt belong there. They had no former diagnosis, acted "normal" and according to him his friends had called him in as a threat as a prank not realizing what would happen. It was supposed to be a 3 day hold just to make sure he was alright but I think they let him out about a day early. Other than that most of them need to be in there willingly or not at least from what I have seen whether that is because they are a strong danger to themselves or others or because of really bad medication comedowns when getting switched meds (why I was frequently in), trying to get off substances which triggered a psychotic episode, or run ins with the law and waiting for a trial date.
