Well, I'm not hypertrance, but I lost pretty much the same amount of weight through pretty much the same method- No exercise, only diet change.

Personally, I ate everything. I didn't put any artificial limit on what I could or could not eat. The only limit was the caloric count. I would count my calories fairly well, and, in order to not fuck up my weight loss, inflated the caloric value of foods that I didn't remember.

Basically, I took the "calorie is a calorie" route. Is it actually true? Well, not exactly, but it's a good enough approximation for basic weight loss. It's also a pretty good system in and of itself- Life isn't made of binary options, and this kind of work needs to be carried through life, so taking a binary method of "having cake or not having cake" is a pretty crappy system, it isn't realistic. But because eating cake would take up something like half my daily caloric allowance, I would usually avoid it. It's a far more dynamic system; I limited my consumption of sugary drinks from "unlimited" to "once per day" and planned around it. I didn't forget to count calories from condiments, and whenever possible, ate them from packets so I could know exactly how much I was eating. Because my country has a very high quality of cheap, local vegetables, I was also able to avoid eating junk food fairly easily. Chicken is a very good alternatives- Chicken breast will be between 200-300 calories per 100 grams- And 100 grams is a lot of chicken. 200 grams of chicken is something like 3 medium sliced of chicken breast, which could satisfy most people for lunch or dinner.

But the most important factor of all? A lot of people used to ask me "well, what did you do when you got hungry?" You want to know the answer? I stayed hungry. Eating 1400-1600 calories a day, when you're used to eating 2500 or more, is not nearly satisfying. Who gives a shit. You've got to get it in your head that as long as you eat at a rate which fits weight loss, you're not going to get harmed. The hunger isn't going to kill you, it isn't going to trash your car, and it isn't going to ruin your life. My conversation with my body used to go something like this-

"I'm hungry. Let's eat all of the cookies we have in the closet!"

"No."

"But i'm hungry."

"I don't see how "hungry" should factor into my consideration."

"Being hungry is bad!"

"I don't see how "bad" should factor into my consideration."

"Oh..."

And that's it. Once you manage get it through your head that you have to feel a bit bad in order to carry this out, and that being hungry isn't going to end you it's pretty much all technical. And few people actually get stuck at this phase; Not a lot of people are really addicted to food, most of the fat people I know are just used to eating more than they should. The problem is that most people refuse to roll with the punches and try to sneak a way through fat loss. What they don't understand is that breaking a habit isn't a one time thing, and you can't dodge the blows forever.

My advice? Whenever you reach that peak of "I HAVE TO EAT NOW!" trip the alarm in your head, and think "what would be the consequences of me not eating?" You're a dude with extra fat in his body. Some people, in fact, plenty of people in this world look like twigs and survive on a diet that has half the calories of a fat loss regime. You'll be fine. After that, manually force your legs to step back if you must.
