Prioritizing safety doesn't mean you have to ignore service. Other countries manage to do both, but it seems that across the board, US carriers ignore service.

There's a difference between codling and treating your passengers like scum.

So why don't you announce that before the drink service? "We'll be coming through the cabin shortly with our beverage service. Please take a look at the menu in the seat back pocket so we can serve you faster."

I've flown many international airlines, and US carriers are the only ones that manage to make me feel like a dick for asking a quick and simple question. I guess FA's like you are the reason why.
