the cost is definitely inflated due to the lack of people using it. the technology involved could easily be purchased off the shelf at an electronics store. The software would be the only custom part. A $1000 laptop could easily do what it's doing.

I hate my bed in a box. I wish I returned it. Too soft. Too warm. The return window just blew past me so it’s my fault.

She speaks very well. I'm sure that she can feel the vibrations of her voice when she talks as well. now she can hear these vibrations in higher fidelity. There are probably a lot of other sounds that are more new than speech. The human brain is predisposition to language. A deaf person is incapable of hearing physically, not mentally. She knows and understands english. She just can't hear. That's my guess, though someone above pointed out that she might have had a hearing aid.

The few deaf people I've met as when I was in sales were remarkably respondent to speech. Getting their attention was the only hard part.
