Hey NASA! Thanks for the AMA. The James Webb Telescope will have tons of instruments on it that will allow us to study more in depth these exoplanets, their atmospheres, the systems that they're in, their composition, and more that I can't comprehend. But I can't help but seeing all of this study wind down to two simple points: Whether or not we are alone in the universe. And/or finding a planet like our own. My question for you is, do you feel your research is aimed at simply understanding other systems so we know how to live in our own? Or, do you feel your research is aimed at the possibility of, one day, evolving into an 'Interstellar Species'?

Hey NASA! In the Martian, the 'Hermes' spacecraft uses a particle accelarator to reach Mars in a little less than half a year. My question for you guys is what is the engine on board the Orion spacecraft? Is a particle accelarator in long-range space travel possible? Thanks for the AMA and all you guys do!
