You're so right. I made a huge mistake not clarifying that I level this criticism against all religions which lead adherents to fundamentally reject gay people. As soon as I posted this I got countless, "but Christianity is just as bad!", and "do you want me to show you similar Bible passages?" types of messages. A few called me downright Islamophobic. Unfortunately I went to bed immediately after posting and couldn't edit and control the blowback.

I just want to say to everybody: I know. I condemn the bad parts of all religions equally. I am not specifically discriminating against Islam while ignoring the problems in religions elsewhere. I am vociferous in challenging those as well. I only mention Islam because this is a thread specifically about Islam.

Man, I will not make the same mistake again. Thanks for your message. I really appreciate it.

EDIT: fixed a typo.

Are you taking on any AI design/programming contract work at the mo? 😉

Serious question!

Wise move. It's tough for us, a small group of devs with high ambitions who hold similar convictions, to convince people like you. You'd be the best fit but for those same reasons we can't have you!

Best of luck on your future projects! 👍

Yeah, you're (mostly) right. I included a lot of unnecessary detail which I basically added to show off that I knew it and to make myself seem more credible. Not a cool thing to do. :¬( I've edited my original comment and included this explanation.

That said, do you not agree that there must be more that Muslim communities (as well as non-Muslim communities and governments/social programs) can do now to help prevent today's adult Muslims from becoming radicalised, for example? That's what I am interested in learning about from OP.

Simply working on raising your children and effectively ignoring the actions of the wider Muslim community is turning a blind eye to the ills committed in the name of the religion. On top of that, it takes more than a decade before our children are old enough to affect real change in the world.

Yeah, I caught the "also" but I disregarded what preceded it. It sounded like a joke. If what you're saying is correct, his legitimate answer is: "stop sulking in your troubles and also teach kids that violence in the name of Islam is not a good thing."

I wholeheartedly agree with the latter sentiment, but I don't feel like that's going to help us very much with our issues right now. I feel like there must be more Muslim communities (as well as non-Muslim communities and governments/social programs) can do now to help prevent today's adult Muslims from becoming radicalised, for example. That's what I am interested in learning about from OP.

EDIT: accidentally a word.
