M4 or Ak which do you prefer?

Was there a pre war time when you felt that you agreed with Hitler's political movement, or did you feel as though you were just "along for the ride" so to speak? Pre-draft/ end of the war, what was civilian life like? I'm an American and never really get that kind of historical information about the war, we just hear of the atrocities, and other things in that regards.
