Did you date a man to try to fit in with people's expectations of you? Were you ashamed of your actual sexual identity and guilty over your natural attractions? Did you have the pressure of a significant other who wants to be acknowledged as a partner constantly being weighed against the fear that doing so would destroy relationships with friends and family members? Did you have to remember which places you were allowed to be straight and which places you were compelled to be gay?

If you are donating the proceeds of the book to a worthy cause, and I hope that is the case, then ignore my skepticism.

Why did you decide to create a false reality to expose the backlash against LGBT individuals rather than just writing about the experience of your aforementioned friend or someone else with an authentic experience? It seems that by sensationalizing the experience, you lose credibility.

What audience do you expect to attract with this book? Conservatives won't want any thing to do with it and why should the LGBT community when they have so many fascinating, complex, moving stories of their own? Was this supposed to be a modern version of "Black Like Me"?
