I have a lot of issues with the hasidic community and how it, in my opinion, negatively depicts the greater jewish community, but Ill keep to something lighter. What is the rational behind everyone, including kids, wearing full on black suits with hats in 96 degree with massive humidity weather? I walk around Brooklyn and see the kids in the summer and feel so bad for them.

One major thing taught in med school is that treatment is actually a pretty poor return on investment. What is better is to not have to treat in the first place. For example, we can treat high blood pressure to a pretty good point, and society-wise, this keeps workers working and so forth. Alternatively, we can just help do things and encourage activity that prevents people from ever getting high blood pressure, and this is usually way cheaper in the grand scale--although it looks super expensive because these programs have a big tag, though when you break down the per person effected cost, its pretty small. This concept is similar to how insurance companies give you incentives to do safe things--they probably dont care about you though, but the investment ends up saving them money as youre less likely to get hurt and get a big pay-out.

To be honest, if you can wait at home, there is a good chance you don’t need to go to the emergency room. Much if the problem with emergency rooms is that people go in for bs. I personally treated like ten patients one day for allergies (and only one has symptoms that a regular person was justified in being concerned about).

There any insight you can give into the nature of farm subsidies? Stuff like, do they push you into one crop over another, whether they help or are not very necessary. Or do they not really apply to small scale persons?

Do you think not having access to the funding would dissuade people from pursuing farming to the point where we are seriously under-farming (brain farting on a better term)? Sort of like if there were no government back student loans, college admissions would plummet as it would take more personal money upfront to go for a degree?
