As a VFX artist this is refreshing to read.

You're a great dad for showing him that series. You should have him check out the D.C. Animated movies. This is a very heart warming AMA btw.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and venture to guess that a large portion of the reddit audience is late twenties-to-thirty somethings. Having said that we are around the time when a lot of us have kids, or are having kids, so topics like this can really hit close to home on many levels. Both in current experience, future experience, and simple reflection. I have a boy on the way and there have been a lot of moments lately that really have been affecting me differently. Really proud of your son for putting himself out there, I can imagine the hesitancy from you as well since you're basically at the playground with him (figuratively) in this scenario while he socializes. I truly believe there was something very special about cartoons and shows from "back in the day" that current television simply can't compete with, both creatively and on a level where studios won't allow it. It's show like Batman The Animated Series, Looney Tunes, Hey Arnold, Sesame Street..etc, that can really help young ones explore 'life' in different ways. Thanks again. This has all been a great read.

I've been working with a lot of the same artists for the past 7 years and it's quite remarkable seeing how everyone's lives and priorities change. No joke 7 of us are having kids this year, including one of the bosses. It's quite insane, and it will be a real task for the company to adapt to multiple families needs instead of a few, let alone marriages. I think one of the biggest changes this industry will see are VFX artists entering their 40's, 50's, and most importantly 60's. I say this because so many studios have outlined their future releases and that really shows VFX needs will definitely not be reduced; leading me to believe a lot of artists can in fact remain in the industry for a long time. This is under the assumption that companies like the one you work for really take notice of their employee's lives, values, and well-being so that they feel comfortable staying and not jumping ship. Thanks for being a good company. Your like the good cops who don't get the recognition they deserve.
