I think what OP is trying to do is provide a more pessimistic/realistic (take your pick) perspective on self-publishing. It's very easy to get excited about publishing your own book, but the reality is that most authors are not commercially successful, and it's easy to get carried away with your enthusiasm and throw good money after bad.

The message isn't "don't publish, ever, unless you're a genius." The message is "publishing is hard, so be prepared to invest way more than you get out of it."

The one question is constitutionally mandated. By my understanding, none of the other questions are prohibited in either the articles nor the amendments of the constitution, and may therefore be asked without constitutional hazard.

Did you ever try to get Pierce Brosnan into NATM in any way? He's so fucking handsome and it would've been great to see him doing something wildly inappropriate at John Hughes High.

Also, i wanted to say i positively loved Highlights as a kid. There were so many cool things in the magazine and it really helped sharpen my curiosity and thirst for knowledge!
