Bolded the important part.

The $2,000 deficit comes from the assumption that only one parent is working. In the table they are referencing, the $6,500 cost total includes $3,300 worth of child care which kind of implies that both parents would be working. So either one parent is working while the other its taking care of the kids, which would be about a $1,250 surplus, or both parents are working and have to pay for child care, which would be about a $2,500 surplus.

Very misleading, ACLU. Shame on you.

As a former-financial-analyst-turned-data-scientist (I also found finance boring), this comment was so cathartic to read. I expected comments like the OP's too when I read the AMA body, but this was a masterful breakdown.
