What was your biggest surprise about day-to-day life in Ghana? And as a followup, what other interesting places have you been?

For the students, what was their biggest surprise when you showed up? (Anything, honestly.)

Why can't I stop watching it? I'm totally out of the demographic, and not a fan as such (sorry) but the tivo keeps finding it and I keep watching..

Also, do they actually farm anything or do they just live in purgatory?

(Edit to add: I actually do like it, but I can't say why. Tivo is watching it when I turn it on, or I put it on in the background while doing something else, and next thing I know I'm watching avidly.)
