Yep. Was bedridden for five years, whilst trying to convince The NHS, that something untoward was going on. I was in a wheelchair too, and after my last surgery it took me 2 years of painful physio to finally get to walk on my own again. I now walk anything from 2- 8 miles a day, which even surprises me sometimes!

Whilst I was having 24/7 muscle spasms, due to my body trying to reject my rods, that pain nearly did kill me!

Being someone who also had Harrington rods during growth spurts, I was so fucking glad that I quit growing early. Man! That shit was agony!

I'm so sorry, she had to go through this. I do feel, however, they never really explained a lot of the possible consequences of the surgery to me either. I had no idea I could have rejected the Harrington Rods, until I did post-pregnancy.

I second, totally, what you said. I would add, however, keep moving. Spines are made for mobility, and not moving for more than about a day will make the pain worse, in my experience.

Still, much love to all you spacky backtrians out there! Keep on keepin' on!
