Quick story: took a leaky, overloaded canoe from Tanzania to Mozambique across the Rovumba. Damn thing starts to sink, so half of us hop onto another canoe that is coming in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, there are hippos with their young swimming by. Scary and exciting!

I can see why the terminology has changed over the last century. At one time it was shell shock, but it isn't just caused by shells. And then they called it battle fatigue, but realised it wasn't solely caused by direct fighting.

What would say to convince a local that being behind the bar is better than propping up the bar?
