The paper basically says that because you were willing to help the researchers by letting them take a look at your genes, they were able to map the specific location where the chromosome broke. This gave them insight into where other people with conditions that affect the morphology of their hands and feet might have a mutation that's less obvious than what you've got (with a whole chromosome piece snapped off and joined to another).

Because of you, we'll be more equipped to help people with conditions like yours in the future. You've changed the world and advanced human understanding.

Thanks.

  1. What is the 5 year survival of someone after you put a new heart in them?

  2. When removing a heart from a donor, at what point is the patient deceased, in your opinion? (Before you start, because they are brain dead? Once you clamp certain vessels? Once you lift the heart out of the chest cavity?)

  3. Does the heart stop after you remove it, but before you put it into the next person? If so, how long does it take to stop?
