I've always been interested in photography but I struggle to see how it can be profitable. Like, okay cool I took a picture, but now what? Who wants that, why, how much will they pay and where do I find them?

If it was 9-10 at night, I highly doubt they could see you. It's almost impossible to see minute details on the beach at night, especially if that person was just inside and went outside to shoot. Even smoking a cigarette outside would kill your night vision for a bit, so again, I really doubt they could see.

That's kinda what I figured, seems logical. I travel a lot and take a lot of photos but I really don't see how the photos themselves are worth anything to anyone, without turning them into some kind of product, like large prints or mugs or other things, but I'm neither a good marketer nor a merchandise oriented person so I guess I'll just keep it as a hobby
