I had a highschool teacher who went to North Korea. Apparently the guide seemed really sincere but broke character (so to speak) and mentioned she actually knew a lot more than you'd think about Western culture. There are people who send USB sticks into North Korea with episodes of Western TV like The Simpson's. The guide mentioned she really liked that show.

No. Don't get in the van. Run. Dying or getting shot is way better than whatever they have planned for you.

I think your answer is fine but also a little presumptuous and subjective, IMO. We can speculate all day about all the different ways someone takes it, but I think the gist of it is that it's so light-hearted and displays a lack of understanding when someone says that. It's the kind of thing you say to cheer someone up during a breakup. To parents, and especially to a mother, a miscarriage is a lot larger than "oh well, try again," it's the loss of a family member. It's a loss of someone with a name, a future, a plan. The parents are already treating the developing baby as a person, and as their own. We don't go to a funeral and say "it wasn't meant to be," however true that may be. It doesn't make sense, it doesn't show any empathy, comfort, or understanding. It's just "oh well, better luck next time."

Do you travel alone? I've always wanted to adopt this lifestyle but I very deeply fear being alone. I always want to have someone by my side to listen.

I think it's because the KKK and similar organizations operate with fear mongering and hatred.
