What is it with people who never managed to get a 4 year degree, and who never served in the military who want to be called "officer" ? Is it like the term inflation that happens when a garbage man wants to be called a "Sanitation Engineer" ?

Why not just embrace the term "turn-key" or "jailer". Neither of these evade the reality that you're one of the few people in the prison system who want to be out there.

One of the craziest stories I've heard was a community college fire that resulted from someone mistakenly melting down a lump of magnesium in with a bunch of aluminum scraps. Luckily, the fire department was just down the block about 250-300 yards away.

Been in two places with loads of Viet immigrants, Iowa, and Washington.

The kids of these people think their elders are just outright nuts with the tales of having to run away from tigers, and other things that just make the kids shake their heads in disbelief. I have to wonder how long until most of the parent culture is lost to kids of immigrants?

Also a kind of interesting quirk of war, if the US hadn't pulled out of Vietnam, the NVA wouldn't have been able to stop the Cambodian civil war. Both countries would effectively be graveyards if the US had held on even 3 more years.

Oh that sucks. I get that occasionally as a Parkinson's side effect, makes me crazy. Other people probably think I'm possessed from the eye and eyelid jumping sideways. ;)
