I looked up endowment names and only came up with endowment ceremonies. What is the practice of an endowment name? Is it a rite of passage/coming of age situation?

Is the ceremony a regular occurrence for a Mormon? Or you do it once in life and a proxy for you after death? I’m just wondering why a deceased person would need the naming ceremony if they cannot convert due to death.
