It will actually be identical to the first two games, focusing heavily on 2nd Edition rules and the addition of Psionics. Each copy of the game will come preloaded on a Compaq Presario 5300 with a 15" CRT.

It was a combination of filling in gaps and building characters we thought would be cool and interesting.

Rasaad was originally going to be a duergar NPC, and then he changed quite drastically into the quasi-Jehovah's Witness that he is today. Rasaad was guided by Dave Gross' love of kung-fu movies.

Dorn was inspired by Trent, he wanted to build a character that was both unapologetic in his evil but also quite sane and rational (To a point, it is Dorn). When we originally designed Dorn, his name was only a placeholder because we wanted him to be voiced by Michael Dorn. Eventually that fell through but the name stuck.

Neera came about because we really wanted to explore what a wild mage NPC would be like, and also because I was tired of writing stuffy medieval dialogue and wanted a character I could goof off with. I no longer write Neera, but her goofiness has continued onward.

Baeloth was originally only going to be in The Black Pits, but Mark Meer did such an incredible job of bringing him to life that we just had to throw him into BGEE as an easter egg character. He also fills the role of pure Sorcerer, which previously wasn't available.

Hexxat was originally going to be an archer named Levess that was Neera's sister, in fact I think we had seeded some mentions of a sister for Neera in BG:EE before we even started work on BGII:EE. Eventually Dave Gross came up with a way cooler concept, essentially a vampire James Bond, and Hexxat was born. Hexxat was also an excuse for us to give the players a pure thief, something I felt BGII was always lacking.

It's a shame we didn't get to keep the sister angle, we were planning a lot of fun stuff if you had both Neera and her sister in the same party.

Wilson was just a bit of fun on our part. Who doesn't want a bear party member? And one that can kind of talk? Forget about it.

Gl- oh wait sorry that's not announced yet

We've been surprised by the success of the Enhanced Editions in many ways. Sales have been excellent, but what surprised us was the ratio. We expected PC to do okay, with the bulk of the purchases coming from iPad and Android.

In reality, PC is exceeding our sales on mobile. We also learned that Mac users are voraciously hungry for desktop games. Those poor, malnourished souls.

  1. Yes, we would like to and are planning on staying within the D&D universe.

  2. We're all pretty big fans of the Forgotten Realms, and it's the D&D setting that we're most comfortable with. It's also conveniently the most popular D&D setting, so for the time being we'll be sticking to FR. That being said I would love to do something a bit crazier in the future, like a Spelljammers or Dark Sun campaign.
