What's the deal with females not being in the Queens Guard? I've not seen one in my times in London. Are they just rare? I'm wondering as you talk a great deal about manliness and manning up etc, which is just a figure of speech but they are loaded phrases...

I appreciate your reply, particularly saying it is only data. I do feel that we are moving towards equality of the sexes in the armed forces, and based on last night, some sports, but there is a lot of work to be done still.

I am certain seeing your fellow female soldiers as equals to their male counterparts is pretty much there, but we just now need to work on subconscious, learned behaviour such as, as you allude to, looking out more for females based on the notion that they are more vulnerable.

It is something that can easily be taught, much like how you may get taught to not risk your life for a superior officer more than you would do so for a regular private or whoever, you know?
