Mostly the cat misses you. Remember her brain isn't as advanced as yours. You know that 'peek a boo' game where you hide your face and the kid has no idea where you went. It's the same way for cats. As soon as you shut the bathroom door you have vanished in your cats mind. So they meow to try to get you to return. She can still smell you so you must be near somewhere. Keep meowing. Pets on the toilet is another thing. Cats are social creatures and letting another cat near you while you're going potty is a big deal. That's a huge level of trust. And you give her pets on top of it. That's like one big signal to her saying 'I trust you no matter what'. At this point she just loves the positive reinforcement.
