I get asked this a lot. I wish I had a better answer. No, it's just a progression I think sounds cool (it's got an interesting chromatically descending theme). Although there are plenty of songs that are similar, if not the same. Simple twist of Fate by Bob Dylan is close. Some redditor told me there's also some Phish song that sounds similar.
