The thing we're all having problems with is that we can't go to a doctor for a sore throat or a discussion-only consultation without getting pressure, weight, and temp taken. That you completed a lengthy study with blood samples and metabolic tracking without getting cuffed once is hard to assimilate into the context of a doctor's supervision.

I have had family in EM, one of them a 12yr EMT-P. I have heard the dead baby story, the train pedestrian story, the spine board over the fire story, the spitting AIDS patient story. That family member no longer works in the field. I wish you good luck and godspeed. Be safe out there.

A spine board is a surfboard-shaped implement used to restrain and transport people with neck or spine injuries. Some medics have been known to use them to gain access to a trapped patient, like over a car engine fire and through the windshield. EMS work is often not exactly OSHA compliant.
