Would you pass someone if you were running late to work? Trucks are often on a tight schedule and want to move as fast as possible.

Also, truckers are often paid by the mile. If you can move 65 mph and you're making .38 cents per mile, you can make $24.70 an hour. But, if you come up behind a truck moving at 62 mph and you don't choose to pass, your pay is cut to $23.56. That's more than a dollar an hour cut from the paycheck for a mere 3mph. How would an hourly employee react to having their pay cut by $1.14?

I've often heard that one should never meet their heroes. Kinda rings true through this story.

A few months ago, I had a group of mentally challenged people do the arm pump at me while I drove past. I blew the horn and it warmed my heart to see how excited they all got. I won't do it in traffic or near residential areas after dark (those airhorns are incredibly loud), but there's really no harm in it otherwise.

Sure we do. I won't do it in traffic or near a residential area after dark, but as long as it's not hurting anybody, what's the harm? It's a small perk of driving the big trucks. A few months ago, I had a group of mentally challenged people give me the arm pump and I obliged. They got all excited when I blew the horn and it really warmed my heart to see those happy faces.
