Retired FF here. Electric blankets are not made to be used for long periods of time, so any use outside the manufacturer recommended directions would have risks.

I was volunteer, but classified as paid-part-time. I got $5 a call, paid for meeting time. I got $14/hr to work at the station maintaining the trucks and mowing the 6 acre helo landing pad. We had no full time departments in the county.

Take two gallon jugs and fill them with water. Now prick a small hole in the cap of one. And take the cap off the other. Turn them upside down so the water drains. The one with the small hole is high pressure low flow. The one with a large hole is low pressure high flow. They both deliver a gallon of water but in different ways.
