Maybe I'm a bit late to this thread but it's worth a shot.

I ref youth and high school basketball. In your opinion, what's the hardest sport to officiate? Easiest?

Man, here I am trying to set up an inter-sport referee rivalry and you're being civil.

I'm going to tell you how it is. Football is one of the easiest because you've got such a big crew to cover your ass of you blow a call. I also used to ref youth soccer and that was pretty easy as long as you can run. Basketball is hard until you get to a three person system, but I haven't got there yet. I'm still young, cut me some slack. Baseball I haven't considered much, but it doesn't seem that bad. Hockey could probably be tricky, but if I were to officiate hockey I'd try to be a linesman.
