Can you take me to the Penthouse Penthouse?

Hi Martin, I am a high school student who is starting a company after my idea won a social entrepreneurship competition. I was wondering if you think that the business plan is a good route to begin working on the start-up, or, like i've heard so many times, the business plan is dead and other ways are more beneficial to getting one's business up and running.

Thank you. Do you think you could tell me what a good first course of action should be to get a company up and running? I have a meeting tomorrow with an entrepreneur who recently took over a cloud computing company and I have somewhat of a business plan, but I want to know how I should actually start an actual business.

I haven't. I'm reading The Lean Startup right now and using the program on udacity, but they both have contrasting ideas on how to start.
