In 2010 the FDA released a little publicized report admitting that at least 80,000 food additives in the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) category were carcinogens.

Please keep in mind that just because its totally legal to add to the food you and I eat, doesn't mean anyone has ever established a safe consumption level or even studied it in any way resembling what we were taught was the "scientific method."

Have you heard that 3rd world countries have much better patient outcomes and use a lot less medications, usually only using drugs for acute episodes? Any thoughts why affluent countries would be unwilling to try the activities of daily living and support that have proven so beneficial for patients in less affluent countries, rather than insisting on escalating drug cocktails for life?

I agree, overheard a couple nurses talking about what was clearly me in a hallway while in hospital at the VA. Confronted them about it, they denied it, but I was the only female in the ward and they weren't using past tense.

Can't afford to get mental health care anywhere else, but that was my last VA visit. Sorry but if you don't respect my privacy or my intelligence, I can't trust you to have my best interests in your mind.

Go be there! And just listen. Let him lead the conversation and chime in with your thoughts, like you're talking to your friend, cause you are.

Don't assume he needs more meds/more time in hospital for speaking of violent things, these thoughts are the new normal reality he has to live with, and it's very difficult not to become paranoid about speaking of anything violent to mental health providers, even events in the past, as their first answer is usually "Needs more drugs." in my experience as a veteran with PTSD.

Sometimes we just need to talk about how satisfying it would have been to beat that assholes face in, remember we've killed people with less cause, and were given awards for doing so.

While I was in kindergarten and my mom was pregnant with my sister, we lived in a motel. I didn't know till years later that this was somehow indicative of our poverty level. You may not feel like you're home for the holidays, but if you can smile and fake it till you make it your babies will be none the wiser.
