Yeah, that's not how private flying works. You would only do that if you were deliberately trying to avoid radar because you were, say, smuggling drugs from Mexico.

Hi Dr Akhter. I am curious why a fundamental tenet of how we understand infection and immunity is being disregarded in this case. Yes, there is no specific evidence that COVID antibodies confer immunity, however that is emphatically not the same thing as conclusive proof that they don't. In the vast majority of infections, antibodies do confer immunity. This is, after all, how vaccines work (and by claiming that COVID antibodies don't confer immunity, but also that a vaccine is on the way, one is holding completely contradictory opinions, but I digress). As we do not have conclusive evidence that antibodies don't confer immunity, and they do confer it for similar illnesses, it is far more logical to assume that they do than don't.
Claiming that there is no evidence that they do, with the strong implication that they don't, is spreading misinformation and panic to push your view, which is, frankly, horribly unethical.
Your common cold example is also wildly misleading. As a doctor, you surely are aware that what we call "the common cold" is caused by a number of different viruses, including coronaviruses. Once one has had one, there is clearly immunity conferred, otherwise once one person in a household got a cold, it would be passed back and forth amongst the members of that household indefinitely. It is, of course, possible to get a cold more than once, because one can catch the various different viruses that cause it.
Thanks again for doing this AMA, but I would urge you to stop spreading fear and misinformation, particularly when it is being used around the world to push authoritarian and undemocratic policies.

Hi Carole. First up, I genuinely do not think you had anything to with your late husband's death, and I am very sorry that people think it's a joke to accuse you of murdering him. That must be heartbreaking to deal with.

I have to ask though, do you really believe that your husband flew unregistered planes from closed airfields, below the height that radar would detect, out over the Gulf of Mexico for a hobby? Or do you think there may be a slight possibility that he was involved in something illegal?

Hi there! We are the owners of a 14 month old rescue. We'd love to get him DNA tested, partly out of curiousity, but also to know about any potential breed-related health concerns. We actually did pay for a "DNA test" through one of your cheaper competitors (our mistake), which turned out to be a complete scam that identified our medium-large black, double-coated dog as an Akita/Shar-Pei mix.

After that experience, we've been hesitant to spend more on this, for fear of getting scammed again, so my question is, really, how does your testing work? Is it actually based on genetic markers, rather than what felt like guesswork? What are you comparing it against?

Thanks!
