BASE jumping itself is generally not illegal in most places. However, in many cases such as building and antenna jumps, jumping is done covertly, because the owners of these objects are generally reluctant to allow their object to be used as a platform. Jumpers who are caught can expect to be charged with trespassing, as well as having charges like breaking and entering, reckless endangerment, vandalism, or other such charges pressed against them. In some jurisdictions it may be permissible to use land until specifically told not to. The Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho, is an example of a manmade structure in the United States where BASE jumping is allowed year-round without a permit.

After seeing the video of this combat action and the pertaining intel, do you think there could have been any other outcome where MSG Chapman might have survived, perhaps with additional air support? I know he was severely wounded and he was pinned down but he survived a very long time during this mission and it seemed like he heroically told the other soldiers with him that he'd sacrifice himself for them to be able to escape.

I am a little fuzzy on exact details, as I've only seen the video once, so I apologize if I'm not correct in any facts above, but I am definitely interested in checking out the book. I definitely enjoy audiobooks, is it available in that medium?

Yeah this AmA is dumb. If you live off the grid, that means being disconnected from normal society. You fend for yourself for food, water, shelter, etc. You don't utilize amazon dot com to live off the grid. You're just glamping.

Did OP just read My Side of the Mountain? Great book when I was 12.
