Danish medical student here (almost done). In Denmark we aren't allowed to write something in their journal (such as, this treatment is a long shot and the last hope) and not tell them. If they complain about being badly informed it could end up with you losing your license.

There isn't really any evidence to support or deny your statement. It hasn't been properly researched.

It is being done more frequently these years. However, nipple sparing mastectomia is not adviced with certain cancers (multifocal, inflammatory).

Alternatively you can do a retroareolar biopsy during the surgery and determine presence/lack of cancer.
