it's harder to tell with Oryx, on the other hand. How much freedom did Crake allow her? "What is my will?", she asked. Was she simply on another assignment from yet another captor, or did she genuinely love the Paradise project? It's very sad, that at least Amanda "grew" out of the abuse and became happy on her own terms, but Oryx never really had the freedom to grow to be her own person.
