I noticed the same thing; wish we could show a bit more hospitality to /r/IAmA visitors, especially the entrepreneurial types with a bit of success under their belt.

Even though I'm an atheist I felt bad for Dave when he got downvoted for saying The Bible and Atlas Shrugged are his two fav books. It'd be nice if folks downvoted poor quality responses and not just jump all over people with differing opinions.
