When seconds count...

Help is often minutes away. It's fucking terrifying.

That one is my favorite.

Chewie dying made me take a break from reading the books. Stumbling across Mara dying made me give them up all together. Anyone else cry and mourn for a while after those things happened?

Right now I'm depending on Dekalb county GA PD/FD/EMT. I think those who work for the county, including the dispatchers (who I speak with frequently as I'm an agent for a security alarm company) are great/good/not the problem. The issue is just an incredible lack of staffing, due to lack of funds/mismanagement of funds/everything. So yeah, 5-6 mins would be flat out impressive here.

All the same, if someone drops with a heart attack, 5-6 mins is a lot of time. Hopefully there's people nearby who know CPR, but if there's not and no defib available, then it just got a lot longer. In that same vein, 5-6 mins is my house burning down, or being completely emptied out in a robbery. So yeah, really nothing against the responders because it's just not your/their fault, but the reality is that bad shit will happen and no one may be there to help you.

Well, to be fair, for most of the major hospitals in Georgia the CDC is less than an hour round trip. But yeah, it'd be nice if they'd be proactive.
