Americans do not realize their official language is Catalan. They are very proud of it also.

In those terms it is rather simplistic. The raid was after intellectual property of a company. Remember this was a working prototype never-seen by any other but Apple's insiders. If this phone had made to the hand of a competitor, Apple would have lost their edge they had to that point, causing damages to Apples income/profits. And we are not talking about only a few hundred bucks.
