I still get asked if I was a crush victim every time a doctor hears about my medical history.

Woo exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis brothers!

Mine happened while I was in the army. I overexerted myself in basic and was hospitalized.

My kidneys had shutdown and my liver was in bad shape but I honestly just felt like I just had the flu. Thankfully I went to sick call and told the doc I was really sore all over and I hadn't peed even though I was drinking tons of water. He said it was probably the flu but he wanted me to get a blood and urine test just to be sure.

As I was waiting for the bus to go back to my basic company, one of my drill sergeants drives by and asks for me by name and tells me I am a very sick private and takes me to the ICU where I am admitted. I was in the hospital for the better part of a week and I was discharged 6 months later from the army for it.

Thankfully I got my honorable discharge and the VA given me a disability rating of 40%

This was in 2007 and now my kidneys seem to work just fine now, some days my pee is as dark as cola but only when I forget to drink plenty of fluids after any exercise. My liver on the other hand still hasn't returned to normal, my last blood test came back "abnormal" but that seems to be the norm for me now.

You guys are lucky, to monitor my urine output they gave me a catheter. One night a nurse forgot to empty it and I woke up having the urge to pee because the bag was so full it backed up into my bladder.
