First and foremost, thank you for doing this AMA. I received my undergrad degree in Civil Engineering from UF (Go Gators!) for a little background.

How accurate would you consider FEMA flood maps and existing ASCE code in protecting buildings from storm surge? Typically, it is required that the finished floor elevation of proposed buildings are to be a foot above the Base Flood Elevation where applicable. Certain municipalities require additional provisions, however this is not the norm. Do you see any additional regulations developing in the future?

On an unrelated note, do you collaborate at all with Dr. Masters or Dr. Gurley? I did some undergraduate research in their department while I was in my undergrad, I hope they are doing well!
