Or Netflix. HBO or Netflix... someone do it!

You are proposing an enormous amount of spending and are very hand-wavey about how you're going to pay for it.

Spending I see that you have not accounted for:

  • Free childcare as a right.
  • All Federal jobs at least 5% above minimum wage.
  • Free College, Trade School, & Job Certification courses for all Americans of ANY age
  • 100% Federal income tax break for all households under $80k/year
  • Double military salaries,
  • National Improved Medicare for All
  • Thorough Federal background checks and free mental healthcare for all.
  • Require all prisons to provide college & trade school
  • Federally funded program to end homelessness
  • Publicly Financed Elections

Some small items, like free college, healthcare, and a build out of mental health resources sufficient to deliver on the promise. So, should we ballpark doubling the government's budget?

Have you done the math on how to fund your promises? Your economic policies will result in a slower economy, which maybe isn't bad if it provides better results for workers, but at the same time you are going to... double maybe triple(?) government spending? Unless you institute a tax on existing wealth, which will eventually run out, I highly doubt there is enough potential income tax to pay for your proposed policies. Have you run the numbers and/or do you have any projections for the economic and social impacts of the programs you're proposing?

You say at the top you compromised some positions to be more "realistic." What exactly did you compromise on?

It appears she did not take your advice. Bad move, Lauren.

As /u/LittlePeaCouncil pointed out, the Haiti response was a shit show for many reasons. That said, you shouldn't write off an organization because of one or even a few missteps. Everyone messes up sometimes.

I've worked a little in disaster relief and have close friends in a few aid organizations. What the Red Cross is good at isn't rebuilding countries. What they are good at is showing up the day after a tragedy with enough food, water, medicine, blankets, and tents to help entire cities. The scale of immediate aid they can provide and coordinate is staggering. That's what the Bahamas needs right now. People don't worry about rebuilding their houses until they have a stable food supply and their kids are safe.

Most airlines allow you to cancel ticjets for no fee within 24 hours of purchase. If you aren't sure when you're leaving, you can buy a ticket right before you leave or when you land and then cancel it when you clear customs. I've got a buddy who does this pretty frequently.
