we used to do this. I went to school in the UK and the 6th Form (16-18) had a separate lunch area, with our own kitchen. We used to hang out with our lunch lady most lunchtimes, listening to music and chatting, then at the end of lunch she'd give us all the pizzas and subs that hadn't been sold. Was pretty sweet :)
