Former EMT-B here, we would constantly be posted near coffee shops or retails stores. Even if they had "no bathroom" sign, it's hard for anyone to tell a medic NO in uniform.

Never had an issue with getting a call when taking a deuce, but there have been many times when we would have to leave our just ordered lunches behind due to a call.

For me it seemed like 50% of the EMTs were waiting for a Firefighter position to open up.
