Non-Amish Christian here. Their lifestyle is in such an artificial environment and isolated that their culture is badly stunted. Especially since there is so little lack of recourse for WHEN - not if - there is moral failure at higher levels. It happens because we are sinful beings. And if the only recourse is for the offended to basically emigrate to another country, there's going to be horrible abuses of authority.

The true ideal of 'helpmates' is going to be difficult for a laundry list of reasons, but OP could probably explain it in better terms.
