When corporations get taxed more don't they just pass that cost on to their customers? Tyson pays more in taxes doesn't everyone, including the poor, pay more for chicken?

I'm not the OP, I do know this about addicts, they don't care about anything more than feeding their addiction, and they can't quit for someone else. If she's an addict she is at risk, your parents are at risk and their financial stability is at risk. I recommend you find another care giver option for your parents.

Being an atheist I had to have science be my higher power. Science could tell me exactly what would happen if I did x or y.

They say if an industry has a low profit margin or price won't effect demand, tax increases are passed through to consumers. Both of those are true of food. If that increase is passed onto consumers it effectively is raising taxes on them.

I absolutely despise this viewpoint. Addicts usually have excuses for why they use blaming life or how someone/thing treated them. Saying it's a disease just gives them one more reason to place the blame for their behavior elsewhere. I say this as someone who struggled with an addiction for over a decade.
