Do you think that research based fields like theoretical physics, mathematics research ,microbiology/virology etc. Are becoming more of a longshot to get a stable job in?? From what I've read it seems that there's a ton of way more experienced old PhDs in these fields yet not many jobs, making it appear increasingly hard to get a job straight out of a PhD program in college. I'm torn whether I should risk unemployment and go for biology research or take a "safer" route and pursue engineering. Thanks!
